Quick & Easy: Seared Scallops Recipe

Hi All!

Quickly wanted to share our highly requested seared scallops recipe! I made these a few nights ago with steak and mashed potatoes and they were a hit! Though we have started a new page on Instagram called Actually Spicy to share all of our food adventures, figured this recipe needed its own post since so many of you requested it. For cooking videos, you can head on over to our YouTube Channel. We are still in the process of figuring out what would be the best way for us to continuously share recipes in a written format. Til we figure that out, this post shall do.

Let’s get started, shall we?

Seared Scallops: Ingredients

8 scallops
1/3 stick butter
1 clove of garlic (diced)
1 lemon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp old bay seasoning
1 stem of fresh thyme
1 tsp of all-purpose flour

  1. Pat dry the scallops
  2. Dust the scallops lightly with all-purpose flour (both sides)
  3. Sprinkle salt, pepper and old bay seasoning
  4. In a cast-iron skillet (on high heat), sear the scallops for about 2 minutes on the first side till its golden brown
  5. Switch to medium-high heat. Add butter, thyme, and garlic to the skillet
  6. Flip the scallops on the other side and let it sear for 2 minutes
  7. Squeeze half a lemon on to the scallops
  8. Let it simmer for a minute
  9. And serve hot! Don’t hesitate to use the buttery mixture from the skillet and pour it over the scallops when you plate it.
  10. Take a picture, tag @actuallyspicy_ and enjoy!
